Mapping Palo Alto : AAA

One summer afternoon, I climbed out of Rinconada Pool and suddenly noticed how many different greens surrounded me. The trees, hedges, grass, and gardens made me stop and look. Those remembered colors became the starting point for one of my Palo Alto paintings.

When I moved to California, the streets, schools, stores, and routes of daily life were unfamiliar. I began drawing maps from memory, starting with walks around the block and gradually adding drives to work, trips to the market, and runs to Stanford and the Baylands.

I translate these routes into grids, then fill them with colors observed along the way. What began as a way to make the city feel smaller became a record of finding my place in Palo Alto.
