Tracking Blooms
This series of paintings maps my evolving relationship with tracking and cataloging the landscapes around me. When I arrived in California in 2019, I was struck by the vibrant life in my backyard. I documented its transformation—new growth, blossoms, and seasonal shifts—translating these observations into art.
Over time, my focus expanded beyond my block. While walking my dog, I began tracking plants that caught my attention and left lasting impressions, questioning what made certain flowers stand out. Both bodies of work incorporate a map as a key—locating memories and charting impressions of the natural world. Mapping became both a navigational tool and a way to transform fleeting moments into lasting visual records.
